Applications and sectors
From the hydraulic hose workshop to machinery service, from scaffolding pipe to automotive, we explain for each job what is crimped, which METflex model fits and what you should write to us in a quote. What do you crimp, and in which sector? Tell us and we will choose the model together.
Which model fits which job?
For every sector we tell you three things: what is crimped, which model fits and what you should write to us. The model suggestions are a starting point by hose range; write down your hose and fitting and we will settle the fit together. The price depends on the model, the die set and the equipment; request a quote and we will get back to you according to your needs.

If you work in more than one sector, write each job on a separate line; choosing two models in a single message becomes easier.

Which model fits: by hose range. MT 11 and MT 12 for 4SH up to 1″, MT 30 for R1-R2-4SH-R15 up to 2″, MT 35 up to 2 1/2″ and MT 55 up to 10″. For preparation before crimping there are the Hose Cutting Machine (up to 2″) and the Hose Skiving Machine (3/8″–1 1/4″); on MT 30 the skiving dies are on the press.
Tell us: hose types (4SH, 1SN, R1, R2, R15) and diameter range, fitting types, daily volume, electrical supply and the control you want.
Construction and machinery: how is a hose changed in the field?
What is crimped: construction-machine hoses. MT 11 was designed to be portable to ease the maintenance of machine hoses that are hard to remove in the field or in factories. Our machines are also used in the construction sector.

Which model fits: for work in the field without electricity, MT 11 (3/16″–1″ 4SH, 70 kg). To renew hose in a workshop, MT 12 (130 tons) or MT 30 and above by hose range.
Tell us: machine type, hose diameter and class, whether work is on site or in a workshop, and whether electricity is available on site.
Agriculture and mining: which machine fits?
What is crimped: hydraulic hose, hydraulic fittings and steel rope. Our machines are used in the agriculture and mining sectors.

Which model fits: by hose range. MT 12 for 4SH up to 1″ and 1SN up to 1 1/4″, MT 30 and above for larger diameters; MT 11 for work in the field without electricity.
Tell us: the type of vehicle or machine, hose class and diameter, fitting type and whether the work is maintenance or production.
Automotive: brake, air-conditioning, steering and air suspension
What is crimped: air-conditioning, steering and brake hose (MT 11, MT 12, MT 30) and air-suspension bellows (MT 30, MT 35, MT 55).

Which model fits: brake and air-conditioning hose may need special dies; the Brake Hose Dies and the die manufacture of the MT series serve this. For air-suspension bellows, MT 30, MT 35 or MT 55.
Tell us: hose type, inner diameter, fitting size and drawing, the form wanted, quantity.
Scaffolding and pipe work: how is a male end formed on a pipe?
What is crimped: the ends of scaffolding pipes. In our article we describe forming a male end (“taklan”) by swaging on the ends of 48-size scaffolding pipes. Our reference list has 8 records in the scaffolding sector.

Which model fits: the Pipe End Press. MT 35 and MT 55 crimp pipe as well as hose; that is a separate process.
Tell us: pipe outer diameter and wall thickness (with unit), end shape, monthly quantity.
Industrial production: cable, iron and steel, and large hose
What is crimped: industrial hoses; MT 35 and MT 55 are also designed for composite hose. MT 30 crimps 3″–4″, MT 35 3″–6″ and MT 55 hose and pipe up to and including 10″. Our reference list also has records from the cable (3) and iron and steel (1) sectors.

Which model fits: by industrial hose diameter: MT 30 up to 4″, MT 35 up to 6″, MT 55 up to 10″. On MT 35 and MT 55 hose sizes can be stored on the PLC screen.
Tell us: the fluid the hose carries, diameter, working pressure, fitting type, daily volume, and floor and electrical details.
Which model is the starting point for which hose range?
Regardless of sector, starting points by upper limits:
- 4SH, up to 1″
- MT 11, MT 12
- 1SN, up to 1 1/4″
- MT 12
- R1-R2-4SH-R15, up to 2″
- MT 30
- R1-R2-4SH-R15, up to 2 1/2″
- MT 35
- Industrial hose, 3″–4″ / 3″–6″
- MT 30 / MT 35
- Hose and pipe, up to and including 10″
- MT 55
Where do preparation machines and dies come in?
The hose must be cut before crimping; this step is independent of the sector. The Hose Cutting Machine cuts hoses up to and including 2″. Skiving depends on hose class: the Hose Skiving Machine covers 3/8″–1 1/4″ and on MT 30 the 3/8″–2″ skiving dies are on the press. In automotive, special jobs such as brake, air-conditioning and steering hose make the die a separate item; we make crimping dies in the form and diameter you need.
Field or workshop: does the sector make a difference?
The difference comes more from the place of work than from the sector. Where there is no electricity in the field, the only portable model is MT 11. In the workshop the electric-motor models from MT 12 to MT 55 are used; motor power is between 4 kW and 11 kW, and MT 12 weighs 250 kg, MT 30 950 kg and MT 55 3000 kg. For installation and floor, tell us your model and we will give you the details.
How do I describe my application in a quote request?
Write in the order below. The example sentence only shows the format.
What you crimp: hose, pipe or steel rope; type and class.
Diameter range: smallest and largest, with unit.
Where and how much: workshop or field, daily quantity.
Infrastructure: voltage, phase, frequency; floor and space.
Sample form: “Hydraulic workshop, İzmir. 4SH and R2 hose, 3/8″–1″, 60 a day, electricity available. Which model suits?”
If you write from abroad
Our reference list has 7 records from abroad. Tunisia’s 3 records are in the scaffolding sector and appear as “Boru Pres Makinesi”. Of Russia’s 2 records, one is a 2″ hose crimping machine in the scaffolding sector and the other a 4″ hose crimping machine in the hydraulic sector. Djibouti and Guinea have one record each, as a 4″ hose crimping machine in the hydraulic sector. When you write from abroad, state hose diameters in inches and millimetres and your electrical supply as voltage, phase and frequency.
If you work in two sectors
If you work in two sectors, for example both hydraulic and scaffolding, write each job on a separate line. Choosing two models in a single message then becomes easier; for each line the hose or pipe type, the diameter and the quantity are enough.

Even if information is missing, writing the sector name is enough; we complete the missing details together.
What if my sector is not among these?
Can I request a quote if my sector is not among these?
Yes. Instead of the sector name, write what you crimp: hose or pipe, type, diameter, fitting and quantity. The choice rests on this information, not on the sector.
Which model is used most in which sector?
The choice depends on your hose, not on the sector: hose type, diameter, place of work and daily volume. Write these and we will tell you the matching model.
What information is essential for a quote?
The hose or pipe type, the smallest and largest diameter, the fitting type and the daily volume. The rest (electrical supply, layout, control) can be completed during the quote.
Which machine do I use if there is no electricity in the field?
MT 11: our manually controlled 70 kg portable press works where there is no electricity and crimps 3/16″–1″ 4SH hoses.
What if I have both hose and pipe work on the same line?
We can choose a suitable model of the MT series for the hose and the Pipe End Press for the pipe ends together. Your hose type, pipe diameter and quantities are enough.
How do I find out the price?
The price depends on the model, the die set and the equipment. Request a quote and we will get back to you according to your needs.
