Frequently asked questions
How much does a hydraulic hose press cost?
The price depends on the model, the die set and the equipment (control type and options such as an oil cooler). Send us your hose type, largest diameter and daily volume, request a quote, and we will get back to you according to your needs.
How do I choose a hydraulic hose press?
Start with three questions: which hose will you crimp (type and largest diameter), where will the machine work (workshop or field), and how many pieces a day? MT 11 or MT 12 for 4SH up to 1″, MT 30 for R1-R2-4SH-R15 up to 2″, MT 35 up to 2 1/2″ and MT 55 for hose and pipe up to and including 10″ are the right starting points. Send us your answers and we will choose the model together.
Which hose press model fits which hose range?
The choice starts with hose diameter and type. MT 11 crimps 4SH hoses from 3/16″ to 1″; MT 12 covers the same range plus 1 1/4″ 1SN hose. MT 30 suits 3/16″–2″ R1-R2-4SH-R15 hoses and 3″–4″ industrial hoses, and MT 35 suits 3/16″–2 1/2″ R1-R2-4SH-R15 hoses and 3″–6″ industrial hoses. MT 55 crimps hose and pipe up to and including 10″. Tell us your hose and fitting and we will say which model fits.
Which press crimps 4-inch, 6-inch or 10-inch hose?
MT 30 covers industrial hose up to 4″ (3″–4″ industrial), MT 35 up to 6″ (3″–6″ industrial), and MT 55 hose and pipe up to and including 10″. MT 35 is a 6″ hose and pipe press and MT 55 a 10″ hose and pipe press, with 350 and 550 tons of crimping force. Send us your hose type and diameter and we will tell you which one fits.
Is there a portable hose press that works in the field without electricity?
Yes: MT 11. It is a portable press designed for field use; it is manually controlled, weighs 70 kg and can be used where there is no electricity. It crimps 3/16″–1″ 4SH hoses. MT 12 and the larger models are electric-motor machines; MT 12 offers digital control and automatic/manual operation and weighs 250 kg. If you replace construction-machine hoses on site, MT 11 is the natural choice; for regular workshop production, look at the motor-driven models.
What does crimping force (tons) mean, and what are the values per model?
Crimping force is the force the press can apply when it compresses a fitting with the dies; larger diameters and heavier hoses call for more force. MT 11 has 110 tons, MT 12 130 tons, MT 30 300 tons, MT 35 350 tons and MT 55 550 tons. Do not judge by tonnage alone: the hose range, the dies and the maximum opening diameter matter together.
What is a die set, and how many sets come with the machine?
A die shapes the fitting around the hose when it is crimped, so each hose and fitting diameter uses its own die. MT 11 comes with 6 die sets and MT 12 with 7, and both have a rack designed for each die. An easy die-change attachment is standard on MT 12 and above and optional on MT 11. Tell us the diameters you work with and we will work out your die needs together.
How does electric motor power vary between models?
MT 12 has a 4 kW motor, MT 30 and MT 35 have 7.5 kW and MT 55 has 11 kW. MT 11 is manually controlled and used in the field without electricity. When you request a quote, state your electrical supply (voltage, phase, frequency) and we will confirm it suits the machine.
What are the machine dimensions and weights?
MT 11 weighs 70 kg. MT 12 measures 60 × 50 × 60 cm (width × length × height) and weighs 250 kg; MT 30 measures 90 × 110 × 170 cm (width × length × height) and weighs 950 kg; MT 55 weighs 3000 kg. Before planning floor space and transport, tell us your model and we will share the dimensions.
Can 4SH, R2 and 1SN hoses be crimped on the same press?
The press is chosen by hose range. MT 30 and MT 35 crimp R1-R2-4SH-R15 hoses on the same machine (up to 2″ on MT 30, up to 2 1/2″ on MT 35). MT 11 and MT 12 crimp 4SH hose up to 1″, and MT 12 also crimps 1SN hose up to 1 1/4″. Each hose and fitting has its own dies: the die is chosen from the crimp diameter in the fitting maker’s crimp chart.
Is skiving the hose mandatory?
It depends on the hose and the fitting. On multi-layer spiral-wire high-pressure hoses such as 4SH and R15 the outer layer is usually skived so the fitting can grip; on single and double wire-braid hoses (1SN, R1, R2) it varies with the fitting type. The fitting maker’s chart states which hose is skived and how far. On MT 30, skiving dies for 3/8″–2″ are fitted on the press as standard; the Hose Skiving Machine skives 3/8″–1 1/4″ hoses.
What do the hose cutting and skiving machines do?
The Hose Cutting Machine is a manual bench-top machine that cuts hoses up to and including 2″, with a 400 mm saw blade. The Hose Skiving Machine is also bench-top; it skives 3/8″, 1/2″, 5/8″, 3/4″, 1″ and 1 1/4″ hoses and has 6 dies. Both prepare the hose before crimping. On MT 30, skiving dies for 3/8″–2″ are fitted on the press as standard, so no separate skiving machine is needed.
How do I choose the right die for my hose and fitting?
First establish the hose standard and inner diameter (for example 4SH, 3/4″), then the fitting maker and code. The fitting maker gives the crimp diameter with its tolerance for every hose-and-fitting pair, and the die is chosen for that diameter. On the press, the maximum opening diameter and the main die length decide whether the die can be used. We also make dies in the form and diameter you need; send us your size.
Can I have special dies made, for example for brake hoses?
Yes. We make crimping dies in the form and diameter you need for METflex presses. Brake Hose Dies are part of our Custom Molds group, and with MT 11, MT 12 and MT 30 you can also crimp air-conditioning, steering and brake hoses. Send us your hose type, fitting size and press model to request dies.
What does the pipe-end press do to scaffolding pipes?
The Pipe End Press (Boru Ucu Pres Makinası) forms a male end (“taklan”) on the ends of the 48-size pipes used in scaffolding systems by swaging, so the pipes join more easily and securely. Send us your pipe diameter, wall thickness and production quantity and request a quote.
How long does delivery take?
Delivery time depends on the scope of the order (model, die set, options). Request a quote and we will tell you according to your needs.
How do I request a quote, and what should I tell you?
Write to us on WhatsApp or by email: +90 506 731 41 41, [email protected]. To speed up the quote, tell us the hose type and diameter range you crimp, the fitting types, whether you will use the machine in a workshop or in the field, your approximate daily volume, your electrical supply and any special die needs. The price is given with the quote.
